Welcome

Whether you are a local or live in the wider region, you should find something interesting and attractive here if you love fine music.  The Upcoming Events tab at the top of this page will take you straight to details of our concert program.

GFG was established in 1998 with assistance from Southern Tablelands Arts to provide access to the arts for the local Gunning region and for the “beautification” of Gunning village.  Other community organisations now care for our streetscapes.  But we continue, as we have for some 25 years, to serve as a small “Musica Viva” for the district, presenting around 5 – 8 affordably-priced fine music concerts each year.

Most of our concerts are in the recently refurbished historic Court Room: Gunning’s Home of Chamber Music.  Larger-scale shows are hosted in our Shire Hall, which is being upgraded to transform into a great performance space.  While we emphasise classical music, we happily host musicians from other genres.

Thank You

We gratefully acknowledge the financial and other assistance so helpfully given by the following, thereby enabling us to bring the joy of music to local people and contribute to the district’s cultural life:

ACCIONA Energy is proud to have assisted GFG in developing this website. For further sponsorship opportunities, please contact ACCIONA Energy on 1800 283 550.

Our website developer, Mr Tom Williams, has continued to help us maintain this site long after its establishment – well beyond the expiry date of even the most generous guarantee period. We are very grateful.

We also appreciate the advice given to us by Mr Richard Scherer of Living Arts Canberra, whose excellent Events Page https://www.livingartscanberra.com.au/ is the place to go to keep abreast of what’s on in the Canberra district and broader region.

Thank you also to our friends in the Yass Music Club, who generously alert members about concerts coming up in nearby Gunning.  GFG recommends checking out the YMC concert program at https://yassmusicclub.com/.
